Continuous Monitoring and Testing Under the Leadership of CM Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Ensure Safe and Quality Food
Sale and Distribution of Fortune Maida Batch FAMD50059A Halted; Paneer Sample from Gaurela Declared Unsafe
Raipur, October 8, 2026/ Protecting public health and ensuring the availability of pure, safe and quality food products remain key priorities of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. In line with this focus, the Food and Drug Administration is carrying out intensive monitoring of food quality in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district through inspections of food establishments, collection of food samples and laboratory testing, followed by necessary action wherever violations are detected.
The administration is paying particular attention to compliance with prescribed food safety standards. Action is being taken in accordance with the rules against food products found not conforming to the prescribed standards. As part of this enforcement, an order has been issued with immediate effect to prohibit the sale and distribution of the identified batch of Fortune Maida in the district. Food business operators have been directed to strictly comply with food safety standards and refrain from selling or distributing products belonging to the restricted batch.
Paneer Sample Found Unsafe, Action Initiated
The Food and Drug Administration collected a formal sample of paneer in Gaurela through a Food Safety Officer and sent it for laboratory examination. According to the test report, the quantity of vegetable fat in the sample was found to be 77 per cent above the prescribed limit. Based on the findings, the Food Analyst declared the paneer unsafe. Taking the matter seriously, the department has initiated necessary action in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
In a related action, the Food and Drug Administration of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district has issued an order prohibiting the sale and distribution of Fortune Maida, batch number FAMD50059A, across the district with immediate effect. Concerned food business operators have been instructed to comply strictly with the order and ensure that only food products meeting the prescribed standards are sold.
Inspections Expanded, Samples of Various Food Products Collected
To strengthen food safety arrangements across the district, the Food and Drug Administration is continuing inspections of food establishments and collecting samples for testing.
As part of the ongoing exercise, samples of Maggi and sabudana were collected from Grihasthi Super Bazaar, while samples of various food products were collected from 786 Biryani Centre and Hari Confectionery for laboratory examination.
The collected samples have been sent for testing as per the prescribed procedure. Further action will be taken in accordance with the quality and safety findings after the laboratory reports are received. The department is working to ensure that food products available in the market conform to prescribed quality standards and that consumers are protected from unsafe food.
Food Businesses Directed to Ensure Strict Compliance
In line with the State Government’s priority of protecting public health, the Food and Drug Administration has urged all food business operators in the district to strictly comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Food businesses have been directed to maintain prescribed standards of hygiene and quality during the manufacture, storage, transportation and sale of food products. The department has clarified that irregularities relating to food quality will be dealt with seriously and that necessary action will be taken under the applicable provisions if substandard or unsafe food products are detected. Inspections of food establishments and sample testing will continue as part of the ongoing food safety monitoring mechanism.
Citizens Advised to Remain Vigilant
The Food and Drug Administration is also focusing on increasing public awareness about food safety. Citizens have been advised to carefully check the packaging, manufacturing date, expiry date, quality information and other mandatory details on food labels before purchasing food products.
Consumers have also been advised to avoid purchasing or consuming food products with damaged packaging, suspected quality issues or an expired shelf life. They have been encouraged to inform the concerned department if they have any concerns regarding the quality or safety of food products.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, monitoring, inspections and testing related to food safety will continue in the district. The administration’s objective is to strengthen compliance with food safety standards and ensure that citizens have access to pure, safe and quality food products.
