- Officials to be held accountable for lapses in implementing government directions: Chief Minister
Raipur, September 10, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday directed divisional commissioners, collectors, inspectors general of police and superintendents of police across Chhattisgarh to conduct immediate inspections and safety audits of hostels, PG accommodations, coaching centres, schools and large educational buildings.
Chairing a high-level review meeting through video conference from his residence office in Raipur, Shri Sai said the safety of students and citizens must remain the government’s top priority. He directed officials to identify potential risks in advance and take corrective action before any accident occurs.
“Administrative responsibility does not end with action after an incident. Potential risks must be identified and addressed beforehand,” Shri Sai said.
The Chief Minister directed district administrations to assess the actual condition of old and dilapidated buildings in schools, libraries, hostels and other public places. Buildings found to be unsafe or posing a risk to public life must be identified and immediate necessary action must be taken, he said.
Shri Sai directed officials to set clear deadlines for addressing any safety lapses found during inspections and ensure that the required corrective measures are completed within the stipulated time. He also asked collectors and SPs to personally monitor the implementation of these directions and ensure effective action on the ground.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to move away from a system that responds only to complaints or accidents and establish regular monitoring and timely corrective action, particularly at institutions attended by children and students.
The Chief Minister also directed police, the excise department and district administrations to launch a coordinated state-wide drive against the manufacture, sale, storage and transportation of illegal and adulterated liquor. Joint teams should conduct raids in areas where there is information or suspicion of illegal liquor production, storage, sale or adulteration, he said.
He also directed the police and excise department to regularly share information and coordinate enforcement. Those found involved in the manufacture or adulteration of illegal liquor should face strict legal action, he said.
He further directed officials to increase surveillance in border areas and along transportation routes to prevent the inflow of illegal liquor from other states.
Chief Minister Shri Sai warned that officials found negligent or indifferent in implementing the government’s directions would be held accountable and face strict action.
He directed collectors and SPs to begin implementing the instructions immediately and regularly review the action taken in their respective districts.
Chief Secretary Shri Vikas Sheel, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Department Smt Richa Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Department Shri Manoj Kumar Pingua, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Shri Rajat Bansal, Joint Secretary Shri Prabhat Malik and other officials were present at the meeting.
