Raipur, 01 November 2026/

Jhara Art artefacts have emerged as a major attraction at the Shilpgram zone of the three-day Rajyotsav organised by the State Government at the Rajyotsav Ground in Nava Raipur to mark the 26th anniversary of Chhattisgarh’s formation. Various departments have set up exhibitions and stalls showcasing their schemes and achievements. The Shilpgram zone displays the state’s traditional handicrafts and handmade products, drawing large crowds. Finely crafted traditional sculptures, decorative objects and folk figures made using the lost-wax technique are proving particularly popular.

Young artisan Shri Pradeep Jhareka from Kandurpali village in Sarangarh district is exhibiting Sarbila Jhara Art artefacts at Shilpgram. His chhind tree sculpture has become a focal point for visitors. Through this work, he has skilfully depicted the chhind tree’s importance in tribal life and culture. The sculpture also portrays, in intricate detail, the traditional process of collecting sap from the tree.

Shri Jhareka said that events such as Rajyotsav allow local artisans to showcase their craft and reach new audiences. He said visitors are showing interest in Jhara Art. Besides purchasing the artworks, they are also learning about the crafting process and its cultural significance. Idols of deities and traditional folk figures are also popular among visitors.

As part of the State Government’s efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai to promote Chhattisgarh’s traditional arts and crafts and provide better platforms for artisans, Shilpgram is emerging as an important venue. It offers visitors an opportunity to experience the folk arts, traditions and craftsmanship of different regions of the state in one place.

Young women artisans from the Bastar region are also displaying their distinctive artefacts at Shilpgram. Their work reflects Bastar’s traditions, nature, and tribal life. Through natural symbols and wildlife depictions, they convey a message about tribal culture and nature conservation.
