This year’s main theme, ‘Sashakt Nari, Yuva Udaan’, highlights women’s economic self-reliance and new livelihood opportunities for young people.
The three-day Rajyotsav will begin tomorrow, 1 November. Stalls from Over 30 Departments among the Attractions
More than 45 stalls have been set up at the Rajyotsav venue, including around 30 by government departments and 15 by other institutions. The exhibitions will offer a distinctive blend of Chhattisgarh’s traditional jewellery, artistic representations of temples, and folk art. Major attractions include departmental development exhibitions, folk arts and crafts, performances by nationally renowned artistes and an exciting air show by the Indian Air Force’s Sarang team.
Showcasing a Changing Bastar, a Flourishing Chhattisgarh and Environmental Conservation
Shilpgram will showcase fine examples of Chhattisgarh’s traditional Dhokra art, or bell metal craft, and decorative artworks. The Forest and Climate Change Department is organising a special exhibition on the theme ‘Badalta Bastar–Sanwarta Chhattisgarh’. It will highlight peace in Naxal-affected areas, growing tourism and employment opportunities, alongside initiatives for forest and wildlife conservation.
Attractive models depict the jungle safari and caves of Kanger Valley, Pushpal Valley in Kondagaon, known for stargazing, Mattimarka in Indravati Tiger Reserve and Tungal Dam in Sukma. The exhibition also highlights Bastar’s culture and tourism-based livelihoods through Dhurwa homestays in Dhudmaras and the conservation of Devgudis.
Wildlife Conservation and Biodiversity on Display
The exhibition prominently features the return of blackbuck to Barnawapara after decades, vulture conservation in Aurapani and the conservation of Kopra Reservoir, Chhattisgarh’s first Ramsar site. Visitors will also learn interesting and important facts about the state animal, the wild buffalo; the state tree, sal; the state bird, the hill myna; and the Orange Oakleaf, approved as the state butterfly. The three-day event will serve as a historic showcase of Chhattisgarh’s progress, cultural resurgence and rich folk traditions.
